better-late-than-never picture post (Christmas)

Here is an assortment of pics from our Christmas celebrations:

The kids had fun being thrown in a snowbank at MeeMaw and Papa's house.

Christmas at home.  Everyone is feeling better!  (We got a new tree!)

I made the kids plus nine cousins fleece scarfs.  It was fun, easy, and cheap. (I will never go to "the fabric store" on Black Friday again.)
Who loves legos? Mom.

The very hard to find Robin action figure from Santa, which is also very hard to find in our house.
Retro video game session.
All packed and ready to go to the hotel.

Swimming with cousins.

"Sleepover" with cousins (and Grandma).

better-late-than-never picture post (Santaland and Monster Jam)

A Christmas tradition is every year we go to Macy's Santaland.  I can distinctly remember every year.  In 2008, I took Brett for the first time.  It must have been at the end of November because my mom was with us, waiting for Lydia to arrive.  Mom bought a book for Brett that plays "Silent Night" that we enjoy every Christmas.  In 2009, I can't believe I went, but I did.  Three babes by now, they were all in diapers, and I pushed them in a triple stroller.  It is insanely complicated to get from Santaland to the parking garage, requiring 2 elevators and a winding trip through Macy's.  I was exhausted when I finally got back to the car, everyone in a clean diaper, and with a clean face and buckled in. As I folded up the cumbersome stroller, I discovered that Brett had put a small toy in the basket of the stroller when I wasn't looking.  I confess, I didn't return it.  In 2010, we went with a friend, her husband, and their kids, and I was thankful for an extra set of eyes and hands.  2011 was the only year so far that Bryan has gone with us.  We always try to go on a weekday during the day when it is not as busy.  2012 was the only year we have gone to the puppet show, Moose Crossing.  It was worth the money, maybe again next year.  But every year, we go through the "A Day in the Life of an Elf" display, write letters to Santa, and get a special treat from Mrs Claus' Bakery.  As well as I remember every year, so far, it is just about brand new to the kids.  This year will be remembered as (1) the year I panicked about my phone battery going dead and not being able to find my way out of downtown without GPS and (2) the year two of my kids sent me on a wild goose chase because they asked Santa for gifts that were very hard to find!

As part of Brett's birthday, we went to the last ever Monster Jam in the Metrodome.  They are tearing it down to build a new stadium in it's place. It was a bit nostalgic, Bryan and I had our first date at the dome, and I remember going to Monster Jam with my Dad and brother many, many years ago!  Anyway, this was a first for the kids, and we had a lot of fun!

The boys love to play monster trucks, but I think Lydia had the most fun, along with her mom!

better-late-than-never picture post (birthday parties)

"Party" or "parties"?  Two birthdays on one day.  Lydia chose Sofia the First and Brett chose Monster Trucks as their themes.  In between birthday treats, we went to an indoor trampoline park.

(What a special treat to have cousins come and celebrate with us!)
