officially ours

Reggie is officially a Wedan! What a special day it was yesterday to have the court formally declare "Baby Boy ***" as "Reginald David Wedan".
Bryan's mom and dad, my mom, and two of my nieces came to celebrate the occasion with us.

We continued our celebration with a trip to the Mall of America, went on a couple of rides, and ate the the Rainforest Cafe. It was a wonderful day!

Reggie is 11 months old!

Reggie is 11 months old! Time has gone by so fast, I can't believe my baby is almost one.

In Reggie news this month, he has mastered cruising the furniture and has moved on to dancing on rocking chairs...I will have to get a video of that. Little by little, he is standing independently more confidently, but only for a few seconds. He did take his first steps a week ago, but has a ways to go before he is a "walker". New words include "yum", "hot dog" (he has not eaten a hot dog yet, but his brother is very fond of them), and "night night".

Reggie has seven teeth now. His hair is still thin and very soft, mostly just a puff in the back, but it is getting to be long, loose curls.

This week, he made what we think will be a permanent move into Brett's bedroom and Lydia moved into her own room. We attempted it once before, but I think he is ready this time.

Reggie is full of delight, expressive and...opinionated. He hasn't shown much interest in toys or books; he mostly just likes to crawl around and interact with others. He loves to eat and gets very demanding at mealtimes. Reggie likes music and climbing, and he is very oral-constantly putting everything in his mouth. He likes to imitate sounds that you make or motions that you do with your hands. He has a great belly laugh when he is tickled!

We are very excited that next Friday we go to court to finalize his adoption - as if there is any question he belongs to us...

family gatherings part two

What do you call 6 cousins 4 yrs old and younger, together with their parents and uncle heading Up North to the country over the holiday? Some may call it a circus, but we call it The Wedan Family 4th of July.
Lydia spent much of her weekend in Grandma's swing.

Reggie had an exciting 4th - he took his first steps!
The cousins had fun in the pool on a HOT summer day!
The men watched from the shade.
MeMaw made a birthday cake for the USA and put sparklers in it!
The cousins liked it!

Getting a picture with all the babies looking is difficult. Getting a picture with all the babies smiling is impossible.

family gatherings part one

Every summer, we have three big family gatherings. The first is at the end of June we have a family reunion with my Dad's family. The second is over the 4th of July at Bryan's parent's home. And the third is during Packer's Training Camp with Bryan's family. This post highlights our family reunion in Okoboji, Iowa. Our family of 35 (if everyone is able to participate) stays in a beach house for a weekend with plenty of boating, swimming, and fun! Reggie had his first swim in a lake and boat ride. He loved both!!!Lydia went in the Kayak with my sister. (She didn't like it.)Brett had his eye on the slide from the moment we arrived! He had fun going down it solo with his cousins' help, and going down with Daddy too!
