Christmas Highlights

It is really easy to find volunteer work.  I am one of the leaders in the 5th and 6th grade ministry of our church.  For the last several years, I have helped organize the giving tree at our church.  This fall, Bryan and I also fell into the role of directors for the wrestling club.  All of these roles made October through December a really hectic few months.  On top of that, I love holidays and there are so many of them, including two birthdays, during those months!  We've been hosting the Wedan Christmas for the last few years.  I love to do it, but at the same time, I'm not very good at keeping it simple, and that can add to the craziness of the season.  Well, now that it's February, I think I've recovered.  Wrestling is still keeping us really busy.  More to come on that one!  But first, a look back at Christmas...

 Lumberjack's Christmas Party

 Generation gap.
 Reggie asked Santa for KitKats.
We met up with my extended family at a Pizza Ranch.  Easiest holiday hosting ever!  Only snag was there was an ice storm that day, so we traveled the day before and stayed overnight at a hotel.  The kids didn't mind!
There.  I think I'm caught up to 2020 now!

Thanksgiving Highlights

We traveled to my parents' for Thanksgiving.  A really big winter storm caused us to go a day early, and leave early.  But we got there!  My kids love to tinker in the woodshop with Grandpa, and he had a Christmas tree wood project for them to build.  Grandma helped them paint the trees.  She thought she was going to have to buy more paint because Reggie "frosted" his instead of painting it!

We had a lot of yummy good and the kids had fun with the cousins.  Isn't their dog, Lucky, cute?

Halloween and Unified Night Out

I see that I missed a few fall highlights, so here we go!

 Slug bug fest!

 Search for the perfect pumpkin!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid? Yes, please.

Lydia had a migraine on Halloween, so she didn't trick-or-treat.  The kids pooled and split their loot.

The kids participated in the Special Olympics Minnesota Unified Night Out.  Together, they raised almost $600 for Special Olympics and had a fun night at MOA Nickelodeon Universe!

Happy Birthday, Brett!

Brett had a great birthday in December!  On his special day, we had cake and presents with the family.  Then we had a "friend" party the following weekend.  This was a really big deal because Brett has never had a friend party.  He is new to his school this year, so we don't really know any of the families.  But his class is so small, so I decided to just let him invite his whole class and see what happened.  We ended up with eight kids, including the sibs, which was perfect for games at the indoor dart arena and pizza!  They had so much fun!  And what a nice group of kids!  I cried at the end of the night because it was so amazing to see that Brett has made some really nice friends at his new school.

Brett is 61 inches tall and weighs 90 pounds. Brett continues to do homeschool with me half days and we are working hard on reading, writing, math, and science.  His sports off-season came to an end this week with basketball starting.  In his free time, he likes playing video games, tinkering, creating, and helping in the kitchen.  He is the only one in the family who loves watching basketball and his favorite team is the Timberwolves.
