Happy 3rd Birthday Reggie!

Three years ago today, our family of four was on the road to our annual vacation in Green Bay when I looked back at the two car seats and wondered out loud if/when we would be traveling to Green Bay as a family of five.  Bryan grumbled, as he always does when I hint about adopting more children.  Little did we know that our third baby was a few hours old, and we were making our one and only trip to Green Bay as a family of four.  How appropriate for Reggie to make such a grand entrance into our family!

Reggie had one definitive request about his birthday this year.  He wanted his own cake.  With a little convincing, he agreed to an Olympics party, as long as there would be lots of games, and he could be on Uncle Adam's team.

Some of the events included javelin, the beam, the triple jump, relay, and the hammer throw.

Reggie and Adam got a gold medal...along with everyone else!

The cake met Reggie's approval, although he is already talking about the football cake he wants next year.
After being properly serenaded, Reggie blew out each candle separately and savored the moment in the spotlight.

Reggie really enjoyed his own cake.

After cake and gifts, there was still plenty of time to play some of his favorite non-Olympic sports.
All day, he made sure to remind me whenever necessary that he was the "birthday guy".
But the birthday guy was all partied out by 6:45pm.
Happy Birthday Reggie!

july

July.

The conspiracy of colors-

Ketchup, marshmallows, the tub of ice,

Bacon strips floating in pale soup.

The sun, like a dragon spreading its tail,

Burns the blue air to ribbons.
