I send updates to the adoption agency every year. Because I'm playing catchup on the blog, the information in this post is from the update I wrote in August.
Reggie is 12 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 122 pounds!
He outgrew me this year!
In a few weeks, he will be starting 6th grade,
which will be his first year of middle school.
Reggie does well in school and the school puts him in accelerated math
and enrichment activities. After
spending 2 trimesters of 5th grade doing online school, we are hoping
for a more typical 6th grade year.
In 5th grade, he participated in Young Scholars, math club,
and EmPowered (a club that learns about and promotes energy conservation). He
enjoys reading books and magazines about sports, both fiction and nonfiction.
Reggie’s sports keep us busy! He was able to do some competitive wrestling
last winter and placed 6th at a state tournament. He played baseball this spring/summer and hit
five homeruns out of the park. One of
them hit his coach’s truck! He just started
practicing for his first season of tackle football. He’s very excited to play.
This Covid season has created challenges for all of us. We stayed home and missed so many things we enjoy including school, family gatherings, activities, and vacations. Covid has provided us with the unique opportunity to pause and connect with each other... We went on a road trip through the Midwest over his birthday. He ate Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and spent the day at Cuyahoga Valley National Park and a Cleveland Indians game.
In addition to playing, watching, and reading about sports, he enjoys playing video games and playing outside. He loves his guinea pig, Penny. He took piano lessons this year, and will participate in band at school. He is an adventure seeker. If it’s a competition, he wants to do it, and he wants to win! He is viewed by his coaches and teachers as a respectful and talented kid. It’s hard to believe he’s already twelve!
