Lydia is 3 months old

Lydia is 3 months old! She's a little peanut, weighing in at 9 pounds 10 ounces. We've tried many approaches to try to resolve her spit-up problem: medication, diet changes, the chiropractor, various formulas...but it seems as though our best option might just be to buy some stock in Tide and endure it.
Lydia is very alert and you never have to guess how she is feeling. If she's happy, she's glowing. If she's not, she lets you know about it! She is rolling over from her tummy to her back and starting to show a little more interest in toys. But mostly she likes to be carried around by her Momma, and since she hangs out in a pouch much of the day, I've started calling her Little 'Roo.

I am VERY happy to announce that Lydia is no longer sleeping with me, thanks to a gracious friend who lent us their Amby bed. I cannot praise Amby enough!!! She's slept in it since the first night we tried it, and there have been no tears over the matter. It's a miracle!

just in time for Valentine's Day...

...Brett is going through a "kissing phase"!

It started out with him kissing his sister - which was highly praised! So much that sometimes he will kiss her over and over again ultimately clumsily falling on top of her and bringing her to tears.

And then, he decided to attack his friend Ellie with kisses when she was over for a play date. She, being a year and a half older, would run around the living room, and he would chase her at a much slower speed, giving her a kiss every time their paths intersected.
And now, when we read books, he will sometimes kiss every animal on every page.

But possibly the most amusing was when we caught him kissing his own reflection on the door of the dishwasher...

Happy Valentine's Day!

snow day

All of the conditions (right day of the week, decent temperature, no other commitments, Lydia was cooperative...) were finally perfect for taking Brett out for his first play in the snow!

I think he liked eating the snow best!

Lydia is 2 months old

Lydia is starting to become more interested in the world around her. She smiles, even spontaneously, often. She does a lot of cooing and can bare some weight when she "stands" on our laps. She can hold her chest up briefly when on her tummy. And, though, she is still sleeping with me in the rocking chair, she usually is only up 1 or 2 times a night.

We have been concerned about her digestion since she was born. She spits up a lot and is very fussy in particular right after she eats. So far when we have voiced our concerns to her doctor, "Babies cry...babies spit up" has been her response. But Friday when I took her in and she only weighed 8 lbs. 14 oz., the doctor finally listened and gave her a prescription for something for indigestion. We're really hoping it helps.
Being the 2nd born is so unfair.
