My parents are on a missions trip in Haiti. They are building a school. A few weeks ago, Providence Ministries visited our church and shared the video posted below. For $70, you can sponsor a child to go to school for a year. Not only will the child receive an education, but that money is recycled through the community 4-5 times by creating jobs.In 2003, there were 1.2 million orphans in Haiti. That same year, families from the US adopted 248 orphans from Haiti. Hmmm...maybe Brett's little brother will come from Haiti...

Yes! I'll admit I've had mixed feelings about heavily supporting overseas ministries when needs are so great right in our own neighborhoods...until I saw the extreme poverty first hand and realized that the children served by organizations such as this and Latin American Child Care where we worked may be the ONLY hope for these children. Through LACC a child can attend school in Haiti for $32 a month. Can as little as $1.05 a day make such a difference anywhere else? Mom
ReplyDeleteIt is easy to get overwhelmed by the needs of children down the street, across the country, and around the world. And it is so true that when Christians only giving "a little" - a little time, a little love, a little money, a little prayer - we can make a world of difference to a child. We are so blessed to be burdened for the needs of children. It is the heart of Christ in us.
